Good Graphic program?

Hey! I am looking for suggestions on a good graphic making program to try. Right now I own Adobe Fireworks, which is what I have been making all my graphics with, but I believe it's time to step up. Any suggestions?

I've heard good things about firealpaca, but I don't know how much use it is for photomanipulations since everyone I know that uses it is a painter. I've never been able to wrap my head around anything but photoshop's CS myself. I'm using CS5 right now.  Link Tree |

I also use Photoshop (CS6), but if you don't want to buy something, GIMP is a good alternative. It can be pretty tricky to learn, but it can do many of the same things as PS, so if you can figure it out it seems to work well! I use it on a limited basis at work. |
