Just kind of posting an update on this (posting here instead of state of the union, because it's more specific to the ads). We've been denied for adsense twice due to "insufficient content" because we can't give them login details until AFTER we've been approved. We do have our forums and help pages open to the public, so Im not entirely sure what else to do.

It is possible to make horse and dog pages open to the public, which may even help boost SEO because more pages would be crawled and indexed. But I'm not entirely sure that would help with adsense because the pages don't have "complete sentences and paragraphs, not only headlines".

Soo, that's where we're at on the ads thing!

I KNOW it's possible to get approved, because most other similar games have been approved and have been using adsense for years.

If anyone has any thoughts which pages can be made public OR experience with adsense, I'd love to hear it!

In the meantime, we could put in some custom adspace in and kind of test it out. It would ultimately be a lot of work to maintain and get advertisers for custom space over adsense, but if any players are interested in advertising their art comissions, personal businesses, blogs, etc. it would be a perfect place to advertise for them! So if anyone is interested in that, let me know and we can talk more about it :).

But yeah. I just wanted to give everyone an update on that :).

What about a learn about the game link on login page? In it there could be detailed text regarding different aspects of the game with pictures and graphics/links to animals? 

I never really looked, but is the get help/info pages public? or like fare said, a learn about the game on the login page.

learn about the game could also include the getting started. lots of words there :)

Seems I'm full of ideas today so I'm going to be a nuisance on the forums. :D

Does HP have a newsletter yet? Perhaps we could add each issue to the website and make it publically accessible. I know it's supposed to be email based, but perhaps being site based would be better?

Also, on another sim I used to play, there was once a short story contest. I ended up printing a lot of them out because they were so good. I don't remember what the prizes were but a good dozen or so people entered. I bring this up because I was thinking that maybe we could write stories about some of our more inspired horses (the highest pointed/most accomplished for example). These stories could then be made into a publically viewable "book" via a special link in the menu bar or something. It would certainly fill the "sentences, paragraphs, and not only headlines" requirement. Plus, I think it would just be fun!

We could do all sorts of content-related tasks that could be viewed without having an account. I know it's a bit of stealing but I do remembe some of the interesting things this other sim I used to play did. Charity fundraisers comes to mind. Now I'm trying to remember why I stopped playing because it's also a great sim. Anyway, if AdSense needs content, I'm sure we could come up with lots!
