So let me start by saying that I have recently become VERY passionate about this breed.....and I am about to most likely put too much info for this type of post, but I want to spread the word!!!! This is sort of a "recognized crossbreed request" as well as a "new breed request". Please bear with me as I try my best to explain in a way that makes sense. Pictures - first, of course!
The breed: Saint-Pierre Dog LAB x BMD = Labernese In RL...... - These dogs were devloped in Canada by The Mira Foundation [link]. - The Mira foundation specializes in breeding & training dogs for the benefit of individuals living with a physical or visual disability or autism. So on HP..... - This would be a recognized crossbreed request - "Labrador Retriever" x "Bernese Mountain Dog" = "Labernese". My HP goals if added: - Become an established breeder (I already have 4 pairs of each foundation breed started). Generation 1 Generation 2 Generation 4 More Breed Information & Facts: Edit: TLDR - Requesting 2 new crossbreeds be recognized to have "Labernese" & "Saint Pierre Dogs" added to HP. |

Ok so.. hear me out xP After a lot of thought and consideration, I have a suggestion. I am totally down for the challenge of getting Saint-Pierres solely through breeding, but I also think it might be a good idea to add additional crosses like we do with the other crossbreeds - where if you breed any of the foundation breeds to a Saint-Pierre, you'll end up with a Saint-Pierre. Mostly because I can forsee myself having an issue keeping up with this in the future if I have to constantly plan two generations and double the dogs ahead of time (I can barely manage to keep my regular breeds straight sometimes lmao). Also, it would be easier for new players or players new to the breed to dip their toes in rather than relying solely on established breeders or having to put in so much work with multiple breeds. As much as I love the idea of encouraging animal sales through such restrictions, I just think most players would choose to just drop the breed rather than go to the trouble, y'know? |

Mango, I like your idea. I really like that there still has to be a breedable Saint-Pierre in the equation. I agree that it could be very difficult to keep up with. With the way that you have it planned out, there would have to be someone who is actively going through the generational process in order for the additional crossbreed "fasttracks" to work. I love it! It will still encourage sales/studs/breedings in the market, and will encourage current and new breeders to continue with another generation. Great idea! |

I would definitely join the Saint-Pierre bandwagon if mango's suggestion is utilized. I already have Labs and would love to pick up BMDs to go for the new breed but I know I would definitely have trouble keeping up with the original plan. =) |

The other thing that might be nice would be if Labernese was added in as an actual breed in the game you can buy from the store. So to get the Saint-Pierre you still have to do some breeding, but it'd be easier for those that want it. (edit: sorry, forgot I was on a spare when I posted lol) |

Hey guys! sorry for the delay. Came down with the Cov and haven't been on the computer much. So I'm leaning toward Mango's idea of Making it necessary to have a Saint Pierre to continue getting SP's. It gives a small idea of a challenge to the breeding. As long as Blitz and the other Admins approve, i'll get this added tonight! |

And officially the site recognizes Labrador Retriever x Bernese Mt Dog = Labernese Labernese x Labernese = Saint-Pierre Saint-Pierre x Lab/Bernese/Labernese = Saint-Pierre |

Okay, now time for the real questions: who's doing pictures of labernese and saint-pierre dogs? :P |

Jaya - I can do some! I watched some videos that Molly Burke posted on YouTube of her experience picking up her dog from Mira (the foundation that created the Saint-Pierre). There are SOOO many variations. Some Labernese look EXACTLY like labs. Some look EXACTLY like Bernese Mountain dogs. The Saint-Pierre is the one that is starting to get a more distinct look, but the breed is still so new there is still a ton of variation. This will make it a lot easier to make pictures for since their real breed has such variations! Sat - I currently have a small group of 6 year olds and a large group of 3 year olds. I am contemplating breeding early so that I can start getting down the line, and then just making sure to fully train the "young parents" until retirement so that the lines stay strong. I will not be able to have 2 generations completed by the time the mascot contest takes place, UNLESS I breed two generations early Everyone - is there a downside to breeding pairs early, besides missing out on the point boost from parents? What are your thoughts given this interesting situation? |
