Training goals

Hi everyone. :) I have been playing for about a month now and while I think I've mostly gotten the hang of things, I wanted to clarify with more experienced players. Going by your typical guide for G1 animals, I know you're looking at a gain of 60k a week at least. So question is: at what point in the week do you expect the horse to achieve the goal? Do you just want your 3 year olds to achieve the 60k go by the time they turn 4? Or should they be nearing the 120k goal of a 4 year old by the time they reach their 4 year old week? Using public shows only. Thanks everyone. :) |

Really just depends if you spread your shows out or max out per day.

With privates, clubs, and about 20 public shows, my dogs usually get 120k per week. Horse Phenomena's Top Fox Breeder |

Let's say using no privates, maxing 20/day with breed specialty. So 80 public shows per week. Is there a significant difference doing 10/day for a couple of days?
Thanks! |

I would say there is. My lines on my page - the Carnival lines - I train once a week - all 80 shows at once in one day. My Royal lines - while they are in a few private shows a week - I train them each day still using enter-all. They probably get around 20k more weekly than those I put in shows all at once. If I mathed right, that's a total of 380k points more. |

If this helps with the private show/public show difference question, my horse In the Wind is trained in 20-25 private shows per week, the rest being enter all publics. She already has over 200,000 more points than my other horses in that divider, which all started at 0 and are only 7 years old. TI also have a stallion who is in 12 privates a week, and he has 100k more points at 7 years old with only 12 private shows a week difference. So they really do add up even if it's just a couple shows per week and the rest are enter all. |

The point goals you want to achieve are based mainly on what you want them to achieve and how many or what shows you place them into each week; as a general rule of thumb, all public shows are worth 1,000 points while all privates/club shows are worth 2,000 points, but the amount of that you get depends on how full the shows are, the placement your horse gets in the shows and how many you enter them into. You state the example of the 3yr old achieving 60k on the 4 year mark or 120k, so I will use the same example; if you are an Upgraded member and you are using the maximum of your horse's shows and only using public shows {excluding Club shows/privates}, then your horse can receive between 80 - 105k by the time they hit the 4-year-mark {this includes the extra points from your specialty and how well they place in shows}, depending on how well they place in said show. Now, if you used Club shows in addition to your public shows {still doing 80/wk on speciality and depending on placement/show fullness}, your horse would could hit up to 110 - 120k by the four year mark {again, using the same extra points}. Basically, the main thing is that your horses should be attaining between 80 - 90k a week to get a decent bump of points. I have used both methods in training {one more so than the other} and I would say there is a significant difference between the two, because while you are not taking in as much as with privates, you still get a pretty good point clip and achieving your point goals is possible, it's just a little slower.

That's the list I have saved in my notes that I follow as a general rule of thumb for my gen 1 horses. However, most of them get to 1.2 to 1.3 mil. I do 20 shows per a day (the max), don't bother with club shows, and typically just scatter them randomly through the week without any effort or thought at all as to where they're going. This is for my general lines that I sell to the public some. My private lines go into private shows so they don't matter at all here.
The one thing I would say is if you only have a handful of horses (I typically have around 100 when I'm in full swing so this isn't something I can do) that you should spread them out around the club shows as well to get those extra points. :) Just try not to "flood" the club shows by entering too many horses into them. |

Thanks you guys! Great explanations. I really need to look into Club shows! I didn't even think of that. I feel like most of my horses are on par or a little ahead of where they should be, I just want to make sure I am maximizing. I'm not ready to commit to private shows but one day... XD Thanks again! |

This is great discussion. Thanks for all of the feedback.
I have been super busy with grad school this semester and have had to get all of my training done as soon as possible. It usually results in me staying up late one night to get all of my horses trained. I used to put them in 10 shows/day, but wanted to test out 20 shows/day for 4 days. My horses that can enter 80 shows per day are averaging less than 60k per week sometimes. Although this is not directly related to the original question, I think it is an interesting topic. I was interested to read about the success of other trainers using different methods. |

Tapla, there are def tons of styles! I have so many animals that it's just not logical for me to do anything but the basic 20 per a day and I do try to alternate days but sometimes I get to it all so late in the week (or hire a trianer late in the week) so I just have to squish them all together. Still haven't personally retired an animal under 1 mil. ;) |

Is this charge current? Which age do horses retire and when do dogs? Does anyone have a dog chart to match?

When a horse hits 21 it is retired and when a dog hits 16 it is retired. |
