Breed Ambassadors

Interested in being an ambassador for YOUR breed? Message Sam on account #1 with the breed you're interested in by March 17th, 2017!

Requirements to be a breed ambassador: must be upgraded, must be at least on the second generation of the breed with plans to continue breeding them, you can only be the ambassador for one breed.

If there's more than one eligible person who wants a certain breed, the active breeders of that breed will vote on who the ambassador will be!

what's the "job" of a breed ambassador?

Trig: "This is something that would not be programming-based (or very minimal programming), but instead would focus on communities of breeders on the game.

Basically, we would designate an established breeder of each popular breed on the game as that breed's ambassador, and they would be the place to go if you were looking to buy, sell, get backups, start the breed, need stock photo suggestions, etc.

It would be similar to studbooks or breed registries in real life, and would be something that would be easy to add to, or add more concrete programming features to later if it is successful!

I have been playing with some code to bring an actual listing for these to life, so I will update more once I figure out what direction I can go with that."

Are we able to message you about being a breed Ambassador sometime after the 17th? Maybe for a breed that isn't already being "ambassadored"? Will breed ambassadors be chosen until they decide not be the breed ambassador anymore?

What Sass said is what the "job" will be! There will be no specific duties, just that you are meant to promote your breed and be the go-to person for  potential breeders or people looking for help with backups or information about the breed :).

Right now we will just have a listing page of who is the ambassador for which breeds! Eventually we are planning to add in other features, like a more official registry and stuff like that! A place where people can officially list their backups and breedings and sales, maybe a registry for the animals, or the ability to make shows. Stuff like that!

After the 17th, people will be able to message me any time about being an ambassador for a breed which does not already have one, and it will have the same requirements as now :). But if you're interested in a specific breed, it's best to let me know now so that you don't lose out if someone else claims it! If a breed ambassador is inactive or leaves the game, then we will either replace them with an interested candidate or that breed won't have an ambassador anymore if no one else is interested :).

In general, though, this is meant to help build communities of breeders around certain breeds because it will be easy for a new player or someone looking for a new breed to go down the list and easily see which breeds are active, and which breeds they can easily find backups and stock etc. for, and will give a more centralized place to find those sorts of communities.
