A blog full of Greek food! It's not mine, but I love it so much. I just started making a few of the recipes (by Elena Paravantes, a nutritionist) and so far they are really good! One dish I made (with a few modifications to the instructions), spanakorizo -literally spinach and rice- and it came out exactly like my grandma's. Today, I made the Greek yogurt and feta dip and I'm struggling to not eat it all with chips! It reminds me of tzatziki, but without the garlic, so it's a lot lighter and good for summer. I also prepared the Greek-style herb burgers, but those are for later. I'll be making two eggplant dishes later on, one is eggplant parmigiana and the other is melitzanosalata: eggplant dip. So, if that made you curious, here's the website: www.olivetomato.com Don't worry, if you're more of a meat eater, there are several chicken dishes and more! |

Oh my god Greek food is one of my weaknesses. We have so many Greek restaurants around here and i love it all to death but never really made anything at home. Link Tree |

I hope you have a good mix of souvlaki/gyro places and also ones that serve more traditional stuff, like what you'll find on that website. I just made the spanakorizo (spinach and rice) for the 2nd time. So yummy and so healthy, and works as a side dish for fish or meat. But this time I used frozen spinach because cleaning the fresh variety is just so time-consuming. Still great. I have to say, as a Greek, that the kind of feta you buy will really improve a recipe or make it meh. If you find anything from Greece, excellent. If not, try to use feta that's in its brine and is made from either sheep or goat's milk, or a mix of both. It should have a creamy and mostly solid texture, and if you crush it with a fork, it should get sort of paste-like pretty quickly. Also, I've tried the eggplant dip (melitzanosalata) and eggplant parmigiana recipes. The former sucks, find another one. The latter's recipe didn't have parmesan, which I only realized after making it, so it kinda sucked. Use parmesan cheese lol. |

Yeah gyro places are randomly EVERYWHERE in Michigan. The traditional places are more spread out. Link Tree |
