What it says on the tin - I'm Kam!

I've always been a horsegirl -- the kind with no real-life horse experience, that is! I've always been drawn to horses, especially as a creative medium. Seeing the ways people draw and animate horses in different styles has always been so mesmerizing to me. 

I did play Horseland, but I was very young. I believe I played it under 13 actually, and basic concepts went over my head. It was always a goal of mine to craft some prestigious name for myself as a Unicorn breeder, but that never happened haha. I desperately wish I could see my old profiles, because I vaguely remember dabbling in creating a layout and such... Ah well. I played Horseland likely no earlier than 2007 is what I'd guess. I saw people say Horseland used to be much different, and text-based. I wish I could see what that looked like -- I can't find much about it and don't remember that (if I did see it with my own eyes at any point, maybe I never did). 

I love horses in many formats. I want to rewatch the Spirit movies sometime soon, maybe Black Beauty... I've been a long-time fan of MLP G4. I recently started playing Star Stable Online, a game I'm SHOCKED younger me missed ever discovering! If it counts, I also like Umamusume Pretty Derby, haha. It would surprise me if people who played this game had no other interest or ties to horses outside of it... are any of you like that? Or are you mostly horse-crazy (which is what I'd have assumed)? 

Not to overlook dog fans -- I'll admit, I'm mainly here because of horses. But I LOVE dogs, and I do have lots of real-life experience with those too at least. I grew up with dogs, always had one in the home. The last dogs I owned left paw prints on my heart forever: an Olde English Bulldog, English Bulldog, & American Bulldog. You might've noticed a pattern there (my mom LOVES bullies). Maybe bully breeds could be a place to start for my account, who knows... Speaking of which...

I have no idea where I'll start here, or what I want to do with my account yet. I'm just enjoying browsing and re-familiarizing myself with the concepts. If you have advice on a simple beginner goal or achievement I could chase, feel free to share :) 

I have one last topic of discussion: I know graphics are a big piece of HP! I am an artist, but I draw things on my own & in my own style (which is very cartoony most of the time). I don't have photo manipulation experience. Are custom drawn graphics a thing? Especially ones that aren't so realistic? Is there much demand for stylized graphics like that, or do people mostly prefer photo manips & realism? It may be time to learn something new!

I am an animal fan so I am familiar with Ume Masume, but I haven't played or watched it because the concept kind of... breaks my brain. XD For all the things Japan turns into cute anime girls, never thought RL racehorses would be a choice.

Welcome to HP!! You will find tons of us old Horselanders on here xD I also would give anything to see my old accounts, I wish I had access to some of my old code or even just screenshots of my layouts. For the cartoon drawings I for one think you'd have a great market in creating avatars and signature images for people! Draw a few different horse/dog breed outlines and do "re-colors" (ppl tell you what colors they want, ex: a black/white pittie vs a grey one). I know we used to have a lot more options for those who made that type of thing and I always snag a few when I see them offered!

Also, not quite the same "bully" but I breed American Staffys and regular Staffys, and if you ever want to start either of those breeds just shoot me a message! I'm all for getting a new player going with a nice pair or two of any of my breeds (:

@ Insomnia, I'm glad to hear someone else plays SSO. I'm gonna wait for Black Friday to hopefully get a good sale on lifetime premium, I heard it's gone for 50% off the last year or two. Fingers crossed. I think the game looks really nice. I've seen many complaints from long-time players that they miss the original graphics/models for the player and/or horses, but I don't agree based on what I've seen. It looks so beautiful! It also runs pretty well on my laptop which was a pleasant surprise.

@ Kiyoko, I get that LOL. It really is a crazy concept. I'm not really a fan of anime/manga, I've only seen a handful of things in my life and it's not my favorite. The gameplay of Pretty Derby is just pretty fun so I have enjoyed it. It's also kinda cool how they incorporate details of the real horse. Their shoes often mimic if the real horse had socks or not, face markings represented in their hair sometimes, etc. Jockey silks are also heavily referenced for the main colors the character wears... Neat!
