As someone who has to be a basic player because life just doesn't allow for extra spending on upgrades - and as a person that isn't actually talented in graphic making or layout coding.......excuse me but how tf are you supposed to even fathom being successful at this point based training clicky browser game?

It's super nostalgic from HL days.......but as a new player coming in, this is just not appealing to me to stick around - I can't exactly log in every single day....so I can't always train.....it's very cumbersome to individually click train every pixel, and I get that that's the perk to having an upgrade....but....idk. It's just frustrating to want to be part of this game but I feel like as a new player I have no way to actually assimilate and compete.....so....am I just supposed to have like 4 horses and go from there? That's not enticing....

To add - I don't get on at a time it seems that many players are on - so how am I supposed to train if I have to both find and pay for boarding but then wait to be fed??

There are players here that have a bunch of 'extra' upgrades that 'rent' out their 'extras.' I am a player who rents spare upgrades from other players myself. However, since they pay for the upgrade time, they use the private shows and tickets themselves. The renter (like me) simply only has access to the account for ease of training with the enter all breed specialty feature. Which is not a bad thing!

The other option i'd offer is if you do any same breeds that i do is i could let you have access to my account and house your horses with mine. Then if you don't get online before the week is over, I would train your herd for you. I don't do Egyptian Arabians though. I breed regular Arabians.

Ok, but I want to be my own entity - why does being a basic player completely seem to rely on other upgraded accounts?

I can understand the boarding and feeding - IF people actually had open stables and kennels and fed reliably; I've had to reclaim animals from the humane association. And that starts a whole other circle of trying to find people who will feed....as a basic player am I really expected to be tied to other players for my own training and point gain? I personally don't want to have to treat it like work where I have to collaborate schedules......

And again, to add - as someone who can't offer extra services, who can't spend real life money on the game - how am I supposed to actually feel like I can hit any of these rankings? 

I'm sorry if I come off as super confrontational but I don't see any other posts about this - and I know I'm new and haven't been around since 2009....but really??? How am I supposed to feel like part of this community when I can't actually participate in it??

I'm online multiple times throughout the entire day so i can feed quickly whenever needed.  And I don't send to the HA if you want to board with me (as long as board fee is paid so the horse auto generates the feed to be added and I can just click my mass feed button without having to scroll through my hundreds of animals and manually adding feed to every one before clicking the mass feed button.

Also, with renting upgrades, you are allowed to put up your own layout and such to make it like your own account too.

i see some of yours are in my stable. i added 100days to all of them it says you gotta pay now? not sure anyways they should ahve like 100days of feed

i can feed. you may be in my stable. if you are and there not fed just poke me. and i can do as soon as i can. i know someone at times boards there stuff in my stable so ya i just need an poke (pm) say hey if i dont see there needing feed

The community here is great! There are plenty of helpful people around here that will do what they can simply because you are new and we want to see some new faces come to the game and stick around

you now should have like 200days on the horses you have in my stables pear. i think you gotta go pay the fee now. not sure how you do this as i board mine in my stable and i feed in bulk but mabey someone else can help you. i know you go to the horses page and at the bottom where it says boarding it should say pay fee right? if i am missing an step can someone help her work this out. i also lowered the boarding fee

That's correct, lakra! And if you click 'Pay Board Fee' multiple times before the page refreshes, then it will bulk pay.

ty that how i was thinking it worked (or i was close lol) anyways all she should have to do is pay the feed fee and the ones in my stable are fed. i also added stalls incause more need to be board if you do please let me know so i so i can make sure they have feed too

i havent been an basic player for an while. so sorry i no help in that area :(. i also was trying to adress your feeding issce as i saw you had horses in my stable. i pm you and see if i can help farther with anything else on this game

Just need to know how and what would be of help to you. But obviously don't know how (maybe I'm interpreting incorrectly what you need?). My inbox is also open!! Please help me help you!

Obviously my biggest issue was trying to have fed my horses/dogs so that I could train - but my issue also is, how am I supposed to be able to be competitive and eventually make rankings as a lowly basic player - I feel as being basic player does not contribute to the community well and does not help myself do well either.

A good way to earn hpd is the club activities every month. They're always super easy and often times gives a good amount per activity.

As well as participating in any mod/staff run forum activities every month. Some of these give a good amount of hpd and some give points that you can have added to a special project animals of your choosing.

also keep an eye out for club stuff, cause sometimes people do give out like 1 month upgrades and hpd, ect xD

Right now there is over 30mill up for grabs this month from clubs! I am on my phone and it is hard to type a thorough longer message but I quickly went through calculating most clubs and many do not have anything up yet as prizes for completing simple quizzes, puzzles, etc. Mascot right now is an easy and great time as well to get easy HPD. I know this is just a bandaid for what you are mentioning and I hope to comment further tomorrow.

Admittedly, the gap between the players you see who have animals on the ranked listings and newer HP players is enormous. Is it unattainable to get an animal on there? No. But it is remarkably difficult. I don't wish to dishearten you, but I think it's important to be realistic. It's also worth mentioning that the players that have animals on the rankings are mostly long-term players who have invested a lot of time, love, dedication, finances and patience to these creatures - players that have years under their belts of gameplay, learning, planning and economically strategising how to achieve these goals. It's not for everyone. Does that make the game any less fun? Heck nah. This is a stellar community that is an absolute delight to be a part of, with lots of fun goings on regardless of how well your animals do.

As others have mentioned, keep an eye out for the events hosted weekly by the Events Coordinator team. The activities they host are easy to do (mostly), don't take a lot of time (mostly) and have lucrative HPD or animal points rewards that are attainable for both Upgraded and Basic players. They are a lot of fun, and the more you participate, the more you benefit, with the total accumulation of the activities you participated in being counted towards a quarterly reward - often a tonne of points to an animal, or a big cash reward. Right now, mascot season is upon us, and there is SOOO much money and points to be made from the activities. 
Clubs are also a great way to make cash, as Tragedy said, there are millions to be collected from these. These millions can go towards a one-month upgrade (they sell for about $75millish), so you don't have to spend real life dollars to have the benefits of an upgraded account. 

All in all, I'd suggest being patient. Many of us have been here for a very long time, and seeing our animals up in the rankings is a nice payoff for the time and money and dedication we have spent on the game. Take the time to learn the game, make friends, ask for help (we will always help new players, as we love to see them out and about in HP), and overall try to enjoy yourself. This is a nice little corner of the internet with a wonderful, kind community that would drop everything to help you should you ask for it.
