What does your food look like?

I don't mean shape and colour, I mean what're you having?

Breakfast? What is it?
Lunch? What is it?
Other? What is it?

When I was growing up, we didn't really have breakfast, just the main meal which consisted of a few courses:

1. Melon chunks. Dad used to cut a melon or two into wedges then slide the knife along between the "flesh" and the rind so they could be easily lifted. The melon of choice was honeydew. I dislike melon, so I gave it a miss.

2. Home-made vegetable soup. Mum made this on Christmas Eve and it was served from a large porcelain tureen.ย

3. Main course: boiled potato, roast potato, garden peas, sliced carrots, brussels sprouts, cocktail sausages, turkey which had butter under the skin and streaky bacon over the skin to keep the meat moist, boiled ham and gravy served from "boats" and jugs.

4. Black Forest gateau, strawberry gateau, ice cream, whipped cream and spray cream (from a canister)

5. Drinks: no alcohol, so Coca-Cola, red or white Shloer (link below for this)

6. After Eights for all, and selection boxes for the kids. If there was any room! There were also tins (replaced by plastic tubs) of Roses and Quality Street chocolates.

WE GOT FATTY, FAT, FAAAAAAAT!!
