I've promised myself to read more this year (and not just listen to Audible lol). I need your recommendations! Fiction or non, series or stand alone, I like psych. thrillers and historical drama. Books that take my mind on a torturous journey and have me second guessing whether I've locked my door are *chef's kiss* Twisted sick rampages are my jam but I'm willing to add soppy romances (not too soppy pls) to my TBR list. Give me some published works from clinical professionals and I'll happily sit down. Anything you deem a cult classic I'll give a go as well! I need to broaden my horizon so lay it all on me π |

Books I really enjoyed in the last year: "The Lost Apothecary" by Sarah Penner; "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue" by V.E. Schwab; "The Order of Time" by Carlo Rovelli (non-fict); "Our Missing Hearts" by Celeste Ng; "The Cartographers" by Peng Shepherd; "Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival, & Hope in an American City" by Andrea Elliott (non-fict) & most anything by Darynda Jones for sappy, laugh-out-loud romance/sassy dialogue, good stories, and memorable characters -- i.e. Charley Davidson and Sunshine Vicram series, respectivley |

By "historical drama", you mean...? Just so I can get an idea of what to suggest. |

Jack Whyte's Camulod Chronicles are fantastic!! and one of my favorite series, ever, historical fiction speaking. It's pre-Arthurian, at end of Roman Empire's rule of Britain. Also have been thinking: Harry Turtledove has done some historical fiction/alternative history -- "The Guns of the South" comes to mind (modern gun mechanics in use during Civil War era); Philip K. Dick's "The Man in the High Castle" also comes to mind -- premise revolves around if The Allies did not win World War Two; also haven't read this author, but my brothers' vouch her genius -- Naomi Novik, particularly "His Majesty's Dragon" and subsquent sequels -- Napoleonic Wars but with added dragons with/for warfare. ![]() |

I have been on a Joy Ellis kick lately. The "on the fens" series is incredible and there are over 10 books in the series which I love too. I'm so involved and emotionally invested in the characters π Admitedly, I have been listening on Audible, but I am sure they are probably even better reads. I also LOVED 11/22/63 by Stephen King, if you have not read that one already. You saying "retelling how life events may have happened" made me think of that one ππ

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. Anything Freida McFadden is a good fast paced read. Her twists are always so entertaining! ![]() |
