My sister used to work in the same setting. She was almost physically hurt many times. Such a mentally taxing job, I was happy when she switched fields. Fascinating psychology though!

Patients have to look after themselves as well. I remember a few years ago, my son was in SASH, the state mental hospital here after trying to commit suicide. He called me after about a week and told me to get him out due to the violence. He said he was afraid to go out of his room, which was no good for him theraputically. After many calls I was able to get him transferred to a private hospital. But the stories he told...I can feel for health care workers.
