The authentic type, of course. I found a new website I absolutely adore and I'm sharing it with everyone. Enjoy! |

I promise you could make a lot of these by yourself, Jaya! Greek food is usually very simple, but it's cooked slow. |

I'm sharing another recipe, which I've eaten at least a few times before. It may take a long time in the oven, but it is 3000% worth it. You should also check out all the other recipes on this guy's website, it's not just Greek food. The chef was on MasterChef Greece and won, so he's definitely good. Anything I try from his recipes turns out amazing! https://akispetretzikis.com/en/categories/kreas/arni-kleftiko Kleftiko means stolen in Greek, and it refers to the Ottoman period of Greek history. Greeks would steal a lamb, butcher it quick, then spice and cover it as described in the recipe. The Greeks back then, though, would bury their meal under a campfire and let it cook for hours. This covered the smell, so if they were discovered, it just looked like men around a campfire. But now, you don't have to worry about it cooking in your oven, no one will accuse you of a crime for it xD ...except maybe not inviting them to share in this delicious meal. |
